Songification #35 - Iris

She and I go way back. 

Long story short, while browsing the internet one day a while ago (as in two or so years ago, idk) I found one of those quiz sites where people can make up their own quizzes on anything and upload them for other people to do. I did one of them, it was about what song you should next listen to or something like that. 

Guess who I got? 

Had no idea what she was, this was the first time we met, so I looked her up, had a listen, decided she was alright but frankly a bit emo and Iris and I got out of touch for about six months.

Then by some miracle I heard her again and remembered and we clicked. 

Since then it's been off and on, it's almost like we're long-distance friends, there are times where we can't get together for a while but then every now and again we find the time to rendezvous ^^ 

Iris is a memory song. Even if you've never heard her before she'll conjure up some nostalgia in you somehow, and if you have heard her before, you get that nice blurry bittersweet feeling as the flashback reels roll ... 

Anyways, not long after Iris and I bumped into eachother again (gosh this was back around when the songifications had barely begun), I tried to scratch out a design for her. 

Wasn't happy with it. Pitched it. Made a mental note to try again later aaaaaaaaaand ......... 

... completely forgot about doing that yup. 

UNTIL RECENTLY when a friend of mine (let's call her C) asked me if I could do Iris as a songification because she'd be into seeing her. It hit me ... I did almost do that once ... So I sat down and finally got to doing that redesign. 

... Truth is ... this is nearly the exact same design I originally had. Scraggly fur caplet and the spear are new additions - "and I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand ..." ♪ - but the plain matching simply-frilled shirt and pants, the hair, her colors ... are the same. 

You haven't changed a bit, Iris. C'mere and join the bunch already you elusive devil ^^

Iris is a serious and studious person. She doesn't say much, a lot more goes on in her head than she lets other people know. 

 She finds that so often people judge one another regardless of any provided explanations, so she simply doesn't bother with any of it - she'd rather be hidden and unjudged than risk having wrong assumptions put upon her.

Iris likes to keep her feelings separate from her life choices - she's pretty rational. She'll protect what she wants to protect, set goals, love her friends, while at the same time she bears in mind everything will end eventually, etc - "When everything's made to be broken ..." 

Iris is prone to being suspicious and pretexting (before speaking she'll give unnecessary background info in an attempt to ensure what she's about to say is percieved correctly; she over-sets up conversations), which makes her difficult to talk to 

Iris is decisive - when she decides to do something she does it all the way, no half-assing. If she's gonna let you in she'll let you in, if she needs to vent she'll vent. Her single lifestyle suits this - "Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive ..."

That spear consists of a chipped flint point with a rainbow of feathers tied about it - it's mostly for show (Iris is quite proud of it, made it herself and all) but she knows how to use it if need be . As for the capelet, she probably found a dead carcass in the woods and decided not to let it go to waste; she's not much of a warrior, she dislikes killing. Killing is leaving a mark. She wants to do the opposite, to hide. ^^
